CHENNAI: Anna University received yet another bomb threat on Thursday night, which was later declared a hoax.

The threat email was sent to the university’s Registrar, police said. The email claimed that a high-powered Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was planted on the university grounds.

City police’s BDDS (Bomb Disposal and Defusal Squad) was alerted, and after a thorough search in the campus, the call was declared a hoax.

Kotturpuram police have registered a case and are tracing the sender with the help of cybercrime experts.

Police sources said that in the last one year, Anna University alone has received over a dozen bomb threats.
