After a yr, TNRERA gets K Gnanadesikan as chairman

Nearly one-and-a-half years after the Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TNRERA) was constituted, authority’s first chairman had taken charge.

Following a government order dated February 8, K Gnanadesikan, former Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary to the Industries department, has taken over as the chairperson of the TNRERA last week.


Gnanadesikan took over the duties from S Krishnan, secretary of housing and urban development department, who was serving as the interim chairperson of the regulatory body.


Meanwhile, the government has also appointed members of the authority. S Manohar, Engineer in Chief, Buildings, Public Works Department and advocate V Jeyakumar have been appointed as members of the authority.


In a separate government order, the government appointed N Balasubramaniam, district judge (Retd) as the judicial member and former bureaucrat Leena Nair as administrative members of the Tamil Nadu Real Estate Appellate Tribunal (TNREAT). Former Madras High Court Judge B Rajendran has been already appointed as the chairpersonof the TNREAT in January 2018.


With the appointment of chairman and members to the TNRERA and members to the TNREAT, the regulatory authority and the tribunal have become fully functional. As many as 886 real estate projects have been registered with the TNRERA since its inception in 2017.
