Actor warned after drunken brawl in city hotel

A police team had to rush to a star hotel in Guindy early on Sunday, after they received a call about an actor indulging in a drunken brawl in the hotel.

Police said that they received a call from the hotel about the scuffle and a team was rushed to the spot.

They said the fight was between Bobby Simha, who won the National Award for his role in the movie Jigarthanda in 2014, and his friend identified as Karuna. “We intervened and stopped their fight. The two were allowed to go home after we issued a stern warning to them,” police said.

Senior citizen held for attempting to break open an ATM

Meanwhile, police arrested Mani (68), a native of Karaikudi, for allegedly attempting to break open an ATM on VM Street in Ice House on Saturday night. Police said a few members of the public noticed Mani trying to break open the ATM and caught him. After thrashing the old man, the people handed him over to the police. Police, quoting Mani’s confession, said he had earlier tried to break open ATMs in Karaikudi and Tiruchy unsuccessfully.
