He was arrested in connection with a case reported in September last year. Jay Milan Shah’s accomplices — Rahul D Jain (24) and Dinesh V Kumar (29) of Sowcarpet — had already been arrested. As much as Rs 53 lakh in cash, three laptops, three mobile phones and a currency counting machine were also seized from them.

The trio facilitated people to bet on cricket matches held overseas and made huge money out of it.

After one Ronak Chordia lost lakhs of rupees to them, he lodged a complaint at the Vepery police station and a special team nabbed the duo from their office at Osiyam Arcades, Hunters Road, Choolai. While they were booked under Sections 420 (cheating) of the IPC and 66D of Information Technology Act and remanded in judicial custody, absconding Jay Milan Shah was traced by a special team led by Assistant Commissioner Maheswari.
