83-yr-old lady outsmarts thief, saves jewellery

An 83-year-old woman’s presence of mind left a thief who entered her home in the city, with no option but to run for his life on Sunday morning.

The police said that after breaking into Lakshmi’s flat in JaiKrishnan Apartment on Jubilee Road, the intruder woke Lakshmi up as he could not find any valuables. Shocked, the woman told him that she doesn’t have any valuables at home. When the thief saw that she was wearing gold chain and bangles, he ordered her to remove them. “Lakshmi then asked him to step out of her bedroom so that she could remove her jewellery,” said an officer. “Believing her, the man stepped out. She then locked herself inside the room and shouted for help. Hearing her cries neighbours started rushing to her apartment but the thief managed to escape,” he added.
