The incident came to light on Wednesday evening when their maid Mary came to tidy up the house since the family was scheduled to arrive on Thursday.

Mary found that the main door to the house forced open while the compound gate of the house located on High School Cross street, Secretariat Colony, Ambattur. A startled Mary alerted Chandran’s office which in turn conveyed the message to Chandran.

On arrival, Chandran estimated the loss of valuables, and preferred a complaint with Ambattur Police who had registered a case. Cops revealed that the complainant had reported a loss of 71.5 sovereigns of gold jewels, and the same had been recorded in the FIR.

The compound gate conceals the main door, and the burglars on scaling the compound wall could have operated at their open pace in sifting through the house.
