60 kg idol found hidden in garbage bin

Royapuram police have launched a hunt for a ragpicker who was caught on CCTV while hiding a 60kg idol inside a garbage bin in Royapuram. Police retrieved the idol after received information that it was abandoned near the garbage bin at Chetty Thottam on Thursday.

CCTV footage retrieved from the locality revealed that a ragpicker, identified as Ganesan (25) kept the idol there after wrapping it in a gunny bag. It is not clear where he got the idol from. Idol Wing police were informed of the seizure, said the police, adding that the make and age of the idol would be known only after experts inspected it.
