The police identified the deceased as B Sujith, a resident of Velancherry near Tiruttani. He was playing with his elder sister Dhanam. No adult was present at home when the incident happened.

Dhanam was watching the television and failed to notice her brother lying unconscious. After a while, their mother Sangeetha returned home after a visit to a relative’s house, only to find her son lying fainted with his head trapped inside the plastic cover.

Though she rushed him to a nearby private hospital, the doctors declared the child brought dead on arrival. Later the body was sent to the Government Hospital at Tiruttani for autopsy.

Police said Sujith’s father Boobalan, 35, is employed at a private firm.
