5 linked to murder of DMK ward member surrender in court

CHENNAI: A day after a DMK ward member was hacked to death Naduveerapattu, five people, including a woman, linked to the murder surrendered at a court in Saidapet on Tuesday.

The deceased Sathish of Ettayapuram in Naduveerapattu was the ward councillor and the Secretary of the DMK in Naduveerapattu. He was allegedly murdered by Lokeshwari Alias Esther (45) with help of four others as Sathish had warned Lokeshwari several times not to sell liquor illegally in her house and also filed a complaint at the police station.

Recently, Lokeshwari's income was stopped and everyone started to avoid buying liquor from her. Soon, Lokeshwari with help of Navamani. (28), Sathish (31), Anbu (25), and Rajesh (37) planned to murder Sathish. On Monday, she invited Sathish to her house and then the gang locked the door and hacked Sathish to death using a sickle.

On Tuesday, all five of them surrendered in the Saidapet court and further investigation is on.
