40 sovereigns burgled from retired doctor’s house

Unidentified persons burgled 40 sovereigns of jewels and one kg of silver articles from a retired government doctor’s house in Ambattur on Sunday.

The victim, Dr Mani, a resident of Athipattu, had gone out of town on Friday. When he returned, the door of the house broken and valuables were burgled.


Based on his complaint, the Ambattur Industrial Estate police registered a case and launched a hunt for the suspects with the help of CCTV footage and fingerprint samples collected from the house.


Series of burglaries reported at Kolathur

Unidentified persons broke open three houses in Kolathur and escaped with 11 sovereigns. The burglaries were reported two days after four house-breaking incidents happened on Friday night. V Jayanthi of Senthil Nagar had gone to her daughter’s house in Padappai on Thursday and returned on Sunday when she found her house broken open and six sovereigns burgled. A complaint has been lodged at the Rajamangalam police station. Similarly, V Jayaprakash, resident of Senthil Nagar, had gone to Retteri on Saturday when his house was broken open and burgled of five sovereigns.
