4 cops shifted from Ayanavaram stn post encounter killing

Five days after the killing of history-sheeter Shankar in Ayanavaram in a police encounter, four cops of Ayanavaram station including constable Mubarak who suffered injuries in the attack were transferred on deputation basis to various police stations in the city.

While head constable Jayaprakash has been transferred to Chetpet, head constable Vadivel has been shifted to Kilpauk, constable Kameshbabu to TP Chathiram, and Mubarak to Vepery. The circular on the transfer was issued by Kilpauk Deputy Commissioner K Adhiveerapandiyan.

‘Market’ Shankar was shot dead by Ayanavaram Inspector Nataraj on Friday after he allegedly attacked constable Mubarak with a machete when the police team took him to the place where he had hidden the stash of ganja after nabbing him. While Chennai city police commissioner Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal recommended a transfer of the case to the CBCID, the Deputy Commissioner of Kilpauk has ordered the transfer of four constables on deputation basis.
