31-year-old dies after MTC bus rams bike in Alandur

A 31-year-old woman died after her scooter was rammed by an MTC bus in Alandur on Friday.

CHENNAI: A 31-year-old woman died after her scooter was rammed by an MTC bus in Alandur on Friday.

The Tambaram-Avadi MTC bus was on its way to Asarkana bus stop near Alandur on the GST Road. Around 3 pm, the bus driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed into bike of Rajeshwari of Azad Nagar, Aminjikarai. In the impact, the woman who got stuck under the wheels died on the spot.

On information, the St Thomas Mount traffic investigation police team that visited the spot sent the body for post-mortem examination to the Chromepet government hospital.

The police arrested the MTC bus driver Palani (47) of Ayapakkam and further investigation is on. It may be noted noted that in the same place a man named Shanmugasundaram (30), on a bike, died after a giant sign board fell on him last month.
