3 detained for robbing fans, furniture from women’s hostel

During inspection, it was found that at least 90 ceiling fans kept in a storeroom, and other furniture, were missing. Authorities filed a police complaint.

CHENNAI: Burglars allegedly broke into a government women’s hostel in Saligramam, which had remained closed for the past two years due to the pandemic and escaped with ceiling fans and other furniture. District social welfare authorities were informed that the thieves entered by breaking and entering via the front door. During inspection, it was found that at least 90 ceiling fans kept in a storeroom, and other furniture, were missing. Authorities filed a police complaint. The Virugambakkam police registered a case and launched a hunt for the burglars. Based on a CCTV footage, police zeroed in on 3 suspects – Sanjay, Suresh Kumar and Ram Kumar of Saligramam – and detained them. Further investigations are on.
