2.06 kg gold worth Rs. 90.17 lakhs seized from passenger arrived from Abu Dhabi

The Chennai air customs officials on Saturday night seized 2.06 kg of gold smuggled by passenger arrived from Abu Dhabi. The value of the seized gold is estimated to be over Rs 90.17 lakh.

A press release from customs said that the seizure was effected after the particular passenger was intercepted at the exit point on intelligence input.

Based on intelligence, a male passenger, who arrived from Abu Dhabi by Etihad Airways flight arrived at 1.15 am on Sunday was intercepted at exit by the Customs officers.

On examination of his checked in baggage, four gold wires ingeniously concealed inside the metal fabricated lining inside the stroller bags were recovered and seized and the passenger was arrested.
