2 teens drown in Chembarambakkam lake while taking selfies

The duo, who stood on the edge, slipped and fell inside the water.

CHENNAI: A Class 12 student and 20-year-old youth drowned in Chembarambakkam lake while taking selfies on Sunday.

Police said that on Sunday, Vignesh (20) of Thoraipakkam, a car mechanic in Chennai, and his friend Richards (16) a school student went to the Chembarambakkam lake on a bike. Both of them were standing close to the lake and were clicking selfies.

The duo, who stood on the edge, slipped and fell inside the water.

Onlookers, who noticed this, immediately informed the police and the rescue team. The rescue team, who rushed to the spot, searched for the boys for a long time. After several hours, they fished out the bodies of the two.

The Kundrathur police sent the bodies for post-mortem to the Chromepet GH and the police have registered a case. Further inquiry is on.
