2 labourers fall to death in Saidapet

Two construction labourers fell to their death from the 10th floor of an under-construction building of Public Works Department in Saidapet on Tuesday.

The deceased, Harigovindan (40) and Praveen (18) of Cuddalore district, were working on the elevator at the terrace of the building behind Saidapet Metro station around 7 pm, when they suddenly slipped and fell from a height over 150 feet as the slabs they were standing on caved in. Both of them died on the spot. 

Shocked fellow workers alerted police, who retrieved their bodies and sent them for a post-mortem examination. A case was registered and site engineers P Jayaprakash D Arivazhangan S Sugumar were arrested and released on bail.
