They had been moved to Vacancy Reserve on Friday. A senior officer added that a departmental inquiry has been ordered against inspector Sivakumar as investigation revealed that he did not act even after he came to know. The incident happened on Wednesday night at Sivalingapuram in KK Nagar when Sasi alias Sivaraj (28) of the same locality, a driver, was talking to his female friend in his car. Around 8.30 pm, constables Sivaguru and Thilagar Babu on patrol duty noticed the couple and questioned them. While Sivaguru was trying to explain, they snatched the woman’s phone, threatened to call up her parents and demanded Rs 5,000. Panicked over this, Sivaguru agreed to pay. On Thursday, the police constable sent a message to the woman’s parents, after which Sivaraj lodged a complaint at KK Nagar police station leading to their suspension.
