On Wednesday, during the search at the house where the encounter took place at Anna Nagar West, the police team found at least two fully ready country bombs and four bombs under preparation. The police team called in bomb disposal squad personnel who diffused the country bombs, police sources said. Manikandan, a history-sheeter from Villupuram, was shot dead by a police team from there when he allegedly attacked the cops who tried to arrest him.

Manikandan was allegedly an expert in making country bombs and had at least eight murder cases among the 28 cases pending against him.
