The two-wheelers such as Suzuki Hayabusa, BMW 1290 Adventure, Aprilia, Kawasaki Ninja, Harley Davidson and Ducati were speeding towards Puducherry. An inquiry found the riders were from Adyar, Tiruvanmiyur, Madipakkam and Koyambedu and were going on a joy ride to celebrate the weekend. The bikes were seized and taken to Kelambakkam police station. The riders were booked for speeding and let 

off with a warning.

When contacted, Kelambakkam police said the bikes were handed over to the respective owners on Sunday evening after receiving a written statement that they would not indulge in racing.

Police took action after repeated complaints about youngsters indulging in racing on ECR on weekends, posing a threat to other road users.
