169 Indians from Saudi arrive in city

As many as 169 Indians from Saudi Arabia arrived at the airport here on Tuesday night.

The flight was announced after Indian Embassy officials approached the Saudi government for making arrangements for evacuating the Indians suffering there because of the lockdown in the wake of the pandemic. On Tuesday, the Gulf Airlines flight from Dammam airport picked up 169 Indians and the flight landed in Chennai airport at 6.30 pm.

Sources said all the 169 passengers were adults. They were made to stand, maintaining social distance, in the arrival hall. After giving samples for COVID test and undergoing the routine Customs, Immigration check, the passengers were guided to the exit point where they were welcomed by the government officials.

They will be quarantined at a private college hostel in Selaiyur for seven days. Those who opted for paid quarantine were taken to private hotels in Vadapalani, T Nagar and Egmore.
