10 months after murder, cops to fish out man’s body from well

CHENNAI: Nearly ten months after a crime offender, went missing, police found that he was murdered and his body has been dumped inside a well in Kunrathur.

The victim Prakash, (25) of Erumaiyur near Kundrathur, was involved in murder and attempt to murder cases. According to police, he went missing last November after he left home informing family that he was going to attend a birthday party in Mariamalai Nagar.

As he never returned, the family initially thought he must have gone underground. But, after checking with friends, the family lodged a missing complaint at Maraimalai Nagar police station in May.

Police during the investigation found that members of a rival gang to have murdered him and dumped the victim after packing him in a gunny bag. The body is believed to be dumped in the well at Kundrathur.

Police now say that one Karuppu, (28) of Thirumudivakkam, along with three other friends kidnapped him from the birthday party in November. They murdered him in Mannivakkam due to an enmity over mamool collection, and disposed the body in a well in Kundrathur.

Maraimalai Nagar police have now registered a murder case and have detained two people in connection with the murder and the police have decided to recover the body after pumping out the water from the well.
