Chennai

I have been suffering from sleep apnea for a couple of years now. However, I haven’t been on any treatment for it. What are the treatment options for it? Are there any medicines for it?

Krishnamurthy, Vyasarpadi

There are no tablets for it at the moment. We decide how to treat it after doing a sleep study that assesses different parameters. Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) is a common therapy for sleep apnea. In this, patients wear a face or nasal mask when sleeping. The mask, connected to a pump, provides a positive flow of air into the nasal passages to keep the airway open. There are also surgical options for those requiring correction of obstructions due to anatomical features.
