The yatra will begin at 5.30 pm from Elliot’s Beach in Besant Nagar and will proceed to the Sri Krishna Balarama Temple at Thiruvanmiyur. The rath yatra festival is an integral part of the Hare Krishna movement which aims to acquaint people with the universal principles of faith so that they may derive the highest benefits of spiritual understanding, unity and peace. 

Thousands of devotees from across the city and even the outskirts come together to celebrate the spiritual occasion and wait for the splendid annual ratha yatra . The beautifully decorated ratha and the chants of followers are a great sight.
