Tamil Nadu police uses hashtag #prayforNesamani to inculcate helmet awareness through social media

Chennai

The 'Pray for Nesamani' hashtag is giving the aware laughter, laughter less by its inherent humour and more by the unaware's seriousness to it. This hashtag is the undisputed ruler of social media that has subverted even Prime Minister Narendra Modi's oath-taking ceremony.

The Tamil Nadu police cashing in on the trend, is spreading the message of helmet awareness with the picture of Vadivelu getting hit by the hammer on head with the caption ''To avoid accidents, wear helmet.''

The scene that is amok on social media is from the Siddique directorial 'Friends' of 2002 starring Vijay and Suriya in the lead. Vadivelu essays the 'hashtag hero' Nesamani who happens to be a contractor. In a bungalow he works in, his nephew from above the stairs while working, fumbles with the hammer that falls on Vadivelu's head.

The almost two-decade old comedy scene is still very much in prime with the attention lavished in social media from people in all walks of the society, globally.
