"Lost in Transaltion" actress Scarlett Johansson has been named as the world's highest paid female actress by Forbes.

The 33-year-old actress made $ 40.5 million in pre-tax earnings from June 1, 2017, to June 1, 2018, quadrupling her income from the previous year, reports theguardian.com.

She has beaten actress Angelina Jolie, who ranked second with $28 million and actress Jennifer Aniston, who came in third with $19.5 million.

The actress' total is, however, well below last year's male equivalent, Mark Wahlberg, who earned $68 million in the 2017 list.

Johansson has played Black Widow in this year's Marvel movie "Avengers: Infinity War" and will be next seen in the 2019 installment from Walt Disney Co's Marvel Studios.
