WhatsApp is looking to take on tech giants Skype once again, with the planned roll out of a video calling feature.

The German blog Macerkopf.de has leaked screenshots of the WhatsApp video calling feature from private beta versions of the iPhone app.

The blog says that WhatsApp has been working on video chat feature for some time now. In recent weeks, they had already indicated that they are working on new features and tests internally. They have also prepared the first photos to WhatsApp video chat feature for you.

The screenshots of the video calling feature shows that users will be able to turn off the mic as well as flip the camera. The layout of video calls shows two windows, one each for the caller and the person who has received the call as well.

The report also says that the colour green will become more dominant in WhatsApp for iOS scheme. This will make the iPhone version of WhatsApp more consistent with the Android version.

WhatsApp will also get tabs for chats now, so users will not have to exit chats each time they switch between multiple conversations.

When this service is rolled out, Facebook will have essentially have two messaging apps which people can use to contact their loved ones over mobile internet.
