Tell us a little about your roles as a painter and sculptor?

I have been in the field for close to three decades now. I joined Kalakshetra when I was 10 to learn dance, but later I took to painting and learnt from Professor Srinivasalu in the same institution. I later learnt sculpting from Kalasagaram Rajagopal. I specialised in portraiture and later bronze.

What is Seed of the Seedless… about?

It stems from my liking for expressing the primordial quality of nature and creation. After my father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, I became his caregiver. I was away from art and connected with it in the form of workshops I conducted. This exhibition is about expressing the questions and discovery that I made during that phase.

What are the common motifs used and their significance?

It is a colour expression of the journey. I have used a tree as a way of representing the tree of life, the trident as a form of connectivity as our USB’s have a similar appearance. Water is the connecting link between all the works, and there is an emphasis on space.
