Hackers threaten to leak GoT Season 7 finale

Mashable reported that the group reached out to them in an e-mail and revealed the login details of almost every social media account of HBO. They also claimed that had access to almost all HBO data, and added, “Be ready for GOT S7 E6 & E7 as soon as possible.”

The hackers had earlier leaked 1.5 TB of HBO’s data, including the script and two unaired episodes of Game of Thrones, in addition to unreleased episodes of HBO’s other shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm, Ballers and Room 104 and information about their employees.

The hackers had demanded $6.5 million as ransom for the stolen data, in an ultimatum to HBO President and CEO Richard Plepler. Though HBO had reportedly tried to settle the issue by paying a ransom of $ 250,000, the hackers did not accept. Recently, OurMine, another group of hackers had also managed to gain control of the company’s social media accounts.

The group went on to post a message on both Twitter and Facebook, which read, “Hi OurMine here, we are just testing your security, HBO team please contact us to upgrade the security.”
