Pay Rs 4 crore for Chakra’s OTT release: HC

In a setback to Actor Vishal, the Madras High Court has directed him to furnish security to the tune of Rs 4 crore within two weeks for release of the film ‘Chakra’ on OTT platform.

Observing that the Film ‘Chakra’ ironically has been sending the actor running in circles, Justice PT Asha, said “Considering the fact that the agreement has been entered into, in and by which the respondent (Actor Vishal) had undertaken to offset any shortfall that the applicant (Trident Arts) would incur in the theatrical exploitations. This court is of the view that the respondent is prima facie bound by this undertaking.” “As to whether, the amount becomes ultimately payable to the applicant has to await the result of the Arbitral Award,” the judge added.
