Post Indian 2, Kamal had originally planned to begin the sequel to Thevar Magan titled Thalaivan Irukkiran in July.While there are clouds of doubt looming over the shoot of Indian 2, there are speculations that Kamal Haasan would instead allocate those dates for the sequel to Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu. A source in the know told DTNext, “Gautham Menon has agreed to do a couple of films for Ishari K Ganesh’s Vels Films International. One of them would be with Suriya and another film with Kamal Haasan. Gautham pitched in a couple of story one-liners to Kamal Haasan out of which one is Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu 2, in which he will don the khaki once again as DCP Raghavan. An official announcement on the collaboration will be made soon.” Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu, released in 2006 made a box-office collection of Rs 68 crore (equivalent of Rs 150 crore as of today). Apart from Kamal Haasan, Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu featured, Jyotika. Kamalinee Mukherjee, Daniel Balaji and Salim Baig in important roles.
