‘Jada doesn’t fall into the usual sports film template’

The trailer of Kathir’s upcoming film, Jada, was recently unveiled by actor Vijay Sethupathi and it went on to garner huge appreciation for its making. A section of viewers, compared it to the actor’s previous flick Bigil, as this film too, revolves around the popular sport, fooball.

However, the director of the film, Kumaran, says that Jada will be unique and it has nothing to do with Bigil. “Jada is a sports film. But it really doesn’t fall into the usual sports film template which we have been witnessing in recent times.

This is not about international football or about players who are waiting to make it big at the national level. The story revolves around 7’s football, a popular sport which is in practice in north Chennai. The game doesn’t have any rules or regulations and it is a way different from the one we are used to. Kathir has performed exceptionally well.” the director said.

He also added that the film also has a thriller element, which will be a surprise of sorts to the audience. “I always believe that content is the king. Jada will be a refreshing experience for the movie lovers. It also has a bit of romance but doesn’t fall out of the storyline.” Yogi Babu is also part of the project.

“Many  don’t know that Yogi Babu is a professional football player. His portions have come out really well and it will be a treat to watch,” he adds. Produced by The Poet Studios, the film is all set to hit the screens on December 6.
