Both the teams looked evenly matched on paper with Karaikudi Kaalai captained by the seasoned S Badrinath and young turk Baba Aparajith at the helm of Tiruvallur Veerans.

Both the teams have a host of players from the state’s Ranji team and experience at the top domestic level wouldn’t be a premium when they lock horns at the picturesque college ground on Thursday.

Kaalai’s T20 experience would be handy for their team in the league as their skipper Badrinath and coach, former India all-rounder Robin Singh, have spent years in the IPL dug-outs with Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians respectively.

Thiruvallur, coached and owned by former Tamil Nadu skipper VB Chandrasekhar, would be banking on the experience of their coach while the likes of Aparajith, NS Chaturved, Malolan Rangarajan and Rahil S Shah would don the roles of anchors in their respective departments.
