Karur stampede: V Senthilbalaji distributes government compensation to injured
The state government announced a compensation of Rs 50,000 to 1 lakh to the injured persons as per the severity

TIRUCHY: V Senthilbalaji, former minister and Karur MLA, on Wednesday distributed compensation of Rs 15.50 lakh to as many as 23 persons who were injured during the tragic incident during actor Vijay’s campaign in Karur on September 27.
The state government announced a compensation of Rs 50,000 to 1 lakh to the injured persons as per the severity.
Senthilbalaji, who had already started the distribution of a cheque worth Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the deceased in Karur, on Wednesday, the distribution of compensation to the injured commenced in Karur.
Accordingly, as many as 15 persons who sustained moderate injuries and underwent treatment and were discharged were handed over the cheque worth Rs 50,000 each, while a compensation worth Rs 1 lakh each was distributed to as many as eight severely injured persons.
Senthilbalaji visited each house and handed over the cheque and assured them of all possible support from the government. He also said that the process of distribution of compensation would continue for a few more days.
On Tuesday, Senthilbalaji distributed compensation to 28 injured persons from Krishnarayapuram Assembly constituency and six persons from Aravakurichi constituency.
District Collector M Thangavel, Aravakurchi MLA R Elango, Mayor V Kavitha, DRO Mohammed Faizal and other officials accompanied the MLA.
