Chennai bags 4th place, secures 99.71 % in CBSE class 10 results

The first position was bagged by Trivandrum with 99.79 percent, followed by Vijaywada with 99.79 percent and third position by Bengaluru with 98.70 percent.

CHENNAI:The Chennai region secured 98.71% pass percentage in the 2024-25 CBSE class 10 exams, coming at the fourth place among all regions in the country.

Trivandrum, with 99.79 pass percentage, came first, followed by Vijaywada at the second place with 99.79 pass percentage and Bengaluru at the third spot with 98.7% students passing the exam.

The class 10 board exams were held between February 15 and March 18 and the results were declared the same day as class 12 results.

In Tamil Nadu, students from 1,460 schools appeared for the exam in 348 centres across the state. And in the Chennai region alone, 1,18,688 students registered for the exams, out of which 1,18,489 appeared and 1,16,958 students cleared the exams.

In the Chennai region, 98.71 students passed – 98.76% girls and 98.66% boys.

Subsequently, in the rest of Tamil Nadu, as many as 1,03,354 registered for the exam, 1,03,259 appeared and 1,03,117 students cleared the exam. Tamil Nadu recorded 99.86% pass percentage, 99.90% girls and 99.83% boys.

The CBSE has announced that there will be no merit list to "avoid unhealthy competition."

Officials said the board has also scrapped awarding first, second, and third divisions based on scores.

The supplementary exams for classes 10 and 12 will be conducted in July. Class 10 students will be allowed to improve their performance in two subjects, according to Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj.
