CM Stalin announces closing of Navalur toll plaza from today due to metro works

Stalin urged the district representatives to act swiftly on complaints and should expedite welfare schemes aimed to uplift the oppressed.

CHENNAI: Chief Minister MK Stalin on Wednesday said, “I am happy to announce the collection of toll fees at the Navalur toll plaza will be stopped from tomorrow (Thursday).”

The decision has been taken following requests from the road users, who stated that they were unable to use several portions of the Rajiv Gandhi Salai (Old Mahabalipuram Road) due to the ongoing metro rail project, he said.

The Chief Minister recalled that the government had stopped collecting toll fee in Perungudi plaza following the long pending demand of the people in south Chennai. It also benefited a large section of the employees of the IT sector.

The Chief Minister, on reviewing various schemes, insisted the officials complete the projects on time to avoid escalation of the project cost and inconvenience to the public. He directed the officials to ensure the schemes designed for the marginalised section of the community to reach the beneficiaries effectively without delay.

Pats Guidance TN for winning UN promotion award

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister congratulated Guidance Tamil Nadu, a nodal agency of the state for investment promotion and single window facilitation, for receiving the prestigious United Nations Promotion Award 2023 for their outstanding work in scaling up energy transition investments.

The Chief Minister, in his official handle in ‘X,’ said, “Guidance_TN’s innovative approaches and dedication to climate action are truly remarkable, reflecting our #DravidianModel Govt’s commitment to a greener future.”

The Chief Minister extended his appreciation to Tamil Nadu Industries Minister TRB Rajaa and MD and CEO of Guidance TN Vishnu along with all the hardworking officials on achieving this proud milestone.

Earlier, Ministers KN Nehru, KKSSR Ramachandran, TM Anbarasan, R Gandhi and M Subramanian and chief secretary Shiv Das Meena and collectors of Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, and Tiruvallur participated in the review meeting chaired by the Chief Minister in Chengalpattu.
