CB-CID has begun probing the St. Thomas Mount murder case

The CB-CID police have begun their initial inquiry at the St Thomas Mount railway station, where the student was killed, and in the Alandur police quarters.

CHENNAI: The CB-CID has commenced investigating the murder case of the college second-year student, who was killed in Chennai after being pushed under a moving train by a stalker, after it was transferred by TN DGP Sylendra Babu.

A team of four officers led by DSP Selvakumar of the CB-CID in Chennai has begun the investigation.

A CB-CID official said that they will be examining the camera footages in the station and meeting the family members from both the sides to record their versions.

The paperwork and files related to this case were handed over to CB-CID by the Mambalam police station on Saturday morning.

In that St. Thomas Mount matter. Just add "Police sources said that Sathish Kumar has been put on ‘suicide watch’ in prison to prevent him from taking any extreme steps while in judicial custody. The move is to prevent a repeat of what happened to the main accused in a similar case, that happened six years ago.

S Swathi, a 24-year-old IT employee was hacked to death on the platform in Nungambakkam railway station on June 24, 2016. The suspect in the case, P Ramkumar who was arrested a week later allegedly killed himself in prison by biting a live electric wire."

The case was transferred to the CB-CID for a thorough investigation considering that both of the families involved are members of the police department.

On Thursday noon, while Sathya, a B Com second year student, was waiting for train at the St. Thomas Mount railway station where she usually boards an EMU to T Nagar. When the 20-year-old was with her friends, Sathish begun altercating with her. In a fit of rage while arguing Sathish is said to have pushed Sathya to the track where a speeding local train towards Tambaram approached.

After committing the crime Sathish fled the spot and 4 special teams were deployed to nab him. He was arrested at Thoraipakkam in the early hours of Friday.

In the initial probe, Sathish confessed to the crime saying if Sathya does not marry him, she shouldn't marry anyone.
