Teen attacks man with knife for snitching about him to girlfriend

Based on his complaint, Taramani police began investigations. Enquiries revealed that the girlfriends of the victim and the main accused are friends.

CHENNAI: Irate over a man snitching about his wayward activities to his girlfriend, a 19-year-old attacked the man with a knife near Taramani on Friday.

Police have booked the teenager, L Mahendrakumar (19) of Kottivakkam and his two accomplices, including a juvenile, on attempt to murder charges.

The victim, M Nagaraj (21), a resident of KPK Nagar in Taramani was on his way to a tea stall near his residence on Friday morning around 6 am, when he was rounded up by the trio.

Nagaraj tried to flee, but the trio ganged up and beat him black and blue. They then attacked him with a knife and fled the scene.

Onlookers rescued Nagaraj and admitted him to a hospital, where he is being treated.

Based on his complaint, Taramani police began investigations. Enquiries revealed that the girlfriends of the victim and the main accused are friends.

The victim badmouthed about Mahendrakumar and told about his illegal activities to his girlfriend, who in turn told her friend the same.

Learning this, Mahendrakumar had called up the victim over phone and had threatened him initially.

On Friday, Mahendrakumar along with his friend, M Ramesh (24), a history sheeter and a 17-year-old inflicted cut injuries on Nagaraj.

Taramani Police arrested all three persons on Saturday. Mahendra Kumar and Ramesh were produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.

Police said that Ramesh has 14 cases against him and was also detained under the Goondas Act once.

The juvenile delinquent was sent to a government home for boys.
