DMK MLA threatens CEO of auto firm, booked

A video of the legislator using foul language against a company executive and threatening to physically harm him has gone viral on social media.

CHENNAI: Tambaram City Police on Wednesday booked DMK MLA, SR Raja, on charges of trespassing and criminal intimidation based on a complaint by a top executive of an auto ancillary company in Singaperumal Koil, 40 kms off Chennai.

A video of the legislator using foul language against a company executive and threatening to physically harm him has gone viral on social media. Later in the day, the CEO of Daejung Moparts private limited, Krishnamoorthy filed a complaint with the police with video evidence after which the MLA was booked.

Police sources said that SR Raja had trespassed into the company on Wednesday afternoon to allegedly arbitrate on a complaint given by the company management against its former Managing Director, RK Sharma, on which an FIR has been registered by the Maraimalai Nagar police.

Sharma had allegedly embezzled and siphoned off company funds, which was revealed in the forensic audit. The company has been in operation for more than four decades and has around 120 employees.

According to a police official, DMK MLA, Raja had come to the company and threatened that he will shut the company down and asked them to vacate.

Tambaram Police have booked S R Raja under Sections 294 (obscene language), 447 (criminal trespass) and 506 (ii) (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and are investigating.

Meanwhile, state BJP president K Annamalai tweeted the viral video. "In the Dravidian model rule of the DMK, I wonder which is the bigger threat to people - law and order break down during DMK rule or Law and order due to the DMK rule,” he wrote.
