After launching the scheme, Chief Minister distributed packets of ‘Nilavembu Kashayam’ and ‘Kabasura Kudineer’ powders to public. “One lakh packets of ‘Kabasura Kudineer’ powder will be distributed to people in containment zone in Chennai under the ‘Arogyam’ scheme,” said the Chief Minister.

In the wake of the rapid spread of coronavirus, State government had formed a 11-member team of medical experts from government and private sectors, including Indian medicine practitioners. The team was given the task of suggesting ways to prevent the spread and containment of COVID-19.

The expert team took the advice of AYUSH Ministry, which suggested medicines in Siddha, Unnai, Homeopathy and Ayurveda. Following this, the committee of experts advised the State government about the distribution of ‘Kabasura Kudineer’ to public.

After careful confederation of the recommendations of the expert panel, the Chief Minister launched the new scheme to distribute ‘Kabasura Kudineer’, said a statement from the government on Thursday.

‘Kabasura Kudineer’ would help in improving the immunity and would keep the public healthy, the Chief Minister added. However, he clarified that ‘Kabasura Kudineer’, a Siddha drink, was not a medicine to cure COVID-19. It would help in improving the immunity, which would help public in the fight against COVID-19.
