When they checked the baggage of Supridian (36) from Chennai, Customs officials found gold bars hidden inside five sealed containers of date syrup.
The gold bars weighed 1.15 kg worth Rs 34.5 lakh. A 40-year-old woman passenger from Chennai, who arrived on the same flight, too, was found carrying gold bangles weighing 200 grams worth Rs 6 lakh. The officials seized the gold in both cases.
