Karunanidhi questions monsoon plan

The DMK leader said referring to a media report and recent observations of the Madras High Court in a related case, “The court’s observations and the media report present a sad commentary of the state’s monsoon preparedness.” 

“It is regrettable that the ruling AIADMK is showing little regard to the apprehensions raised by the people ahead of the monsoon,” the former Chief Minister said. 

The veteran leader recalled at length the devastation suffered by the residents of the city and several delta districts during last year’s northeast monsoon. He added “I expect the government to make haste at least now in taking necessary steps to protect the people from the flooding.”
