CHENNAI:We were the first to report that Dhanush’s upcoming film with Arun Matheswaran has been titled Captain Miller. On Saturday, the makers of the film, Sathya Jyothi on Saturday officially announced a film with a short video with captivating music by composer GV Prakash. Arun Matheswaran, who was hailed for his previous works Rocky and Saani Kaayidham gets candid about the project to DT Next. “Rocky and Saani Kaayidham were certified by the CBFC as ‘A’ because I had written it that way. My third film Captain Miller, is an action-entertainer that will still have some amount of action in it. But the film will have a wider audience and keeping them in mind, I have penned Captain Miller keeping U/A certificate in mind,” he opens up.

Etching the final draft of the script took three years for Arun. “I wrote Rocky and Saani Kaayidham in a short span of time. For Captain Miller, it took me three years. I revised the script a few times before presenting it to Dhanush. I had given him the synopsis in 2019 and he was impressed with the script and agreed to do it,” says the critically-acclaimed director. Not only the writing part, Captain Miller will take triple the time to shoot unlike his previous films. “I filmed Rocky in 27 days and Saani Kaayidham in 42 days. But for Captain Miller we have planned the shoot across 120 days and the set work is taking place. The movie will go on floors in mid-August,” he tells us

The film is set in the 1930s-40s and Arun tells us the reason behind the title. “We will be recreating the era and this is also the biggest film for me in terms of budget. I like the name Captain Miller after Tom Hanks’s character name from Saving Private Ryan,” he reveals. Tell him that the first letters from the title CM would also have cryptic political dialogues too, Arun laughs and says, “No this is nothing of that sort.” With big budget on hand and 120 days of shoot, we ask Arun if he would pack Captain Miller’s story in a single part. “No. Captain Miller is certainly not a one part film. It is too early to talk about other instalments.
