Ram opens up by saying that Aarya is something he wanted to work on for the last nine years. “In 2010-11 I wanted this to be a proper feature film. I pitched in with the script to a few producers, who at that point in time rejected it. I cried for a day and then moved on. I have worked on a few creatives with Hotstar and that is when I told them about Aarya. They came forward to produce it for me,” he reveals.
He quickly adds that he hasn’t tweaked the script. “I haven’t spoken about current affairs or social injustice or rape incidents in Aarya. It is about a woman, fighting for her family that is caught in a situation.Aarya is a family entertainer. The story is about a normal woman, who picks up a gun when in need. Sushmita transformation for the role was something brilliant,” tells Ram. On her Instagram account, Sushmita, described Aarya as her second innings. Ram with a smile says, “We had previously worked for an ad. And when we collaborated for Aarya, all I told her was keep trust in me and I would not let her down. I am glad it has come out the way we wanted it,” he concludes.
