Seating arrangements have been made for over two lakh persons at the venue which can accommodate another five lakh. Car parking has been set up in about 300 acres.
Thousands of the DMK workers from Western districts including Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Karur and Namakkal are expected to descend in Erode for the conference.
As part of the conference, the DMK’s women wing members took out a two wheeler rally, besides marathons were organised to publicise the party’s event. Street campaigns were undertaken in as many as 866 places inviting people to attend the conference. Pamphlets were distributed to public in vegetable markets, bus stands, railway stations and crowded spots.
As thousands are expected to throng the conference, three emergency care centers have been set up with five beds, first aid kits and a team of ten doctors along with nurses. Ten ambulances have been stationed at the spot to attend to emergencies.
MK Stalin is expected to address his first conference as working president on the second day of the meet on Sunday. A photo exhibition on the history of Dravidian movement has also been organised at the venue.
Stalin calls on ailing ex-union minister
DMK working president MK Stalin on Friday called on former union minister M Kannappan, who has been hospitalised for illness in Coimbatore. Stalin met Kannappan before proceeding to Erode on road for the DMK’s conference.
