Chennai:
DMK president MK Stalin on Thursday accepted Chief Minister E Palaniswami’s challenge for a debate on corruption on the condition that the CM withdraw the stay against CBI probe into highway tender allocation scam.
Stalin also insisted that the CM pass a cabinet resolution allowing the Governor to order an investigation into corruption charges against AIADMK minsters.
Accepting the CM’s challenge, Stalin said, “I am ready to accept the challenge. But before that Palaniswami should initiate some action. Withdraw the stay obtained against CBI probe into awarding of highway tender to his in-laws. Also, pass a cabinet resolution advising the Governor to permit investigation against AIADMK ministers based on the complaint referred by the Leader of Opposition.”
He also advised Palaniswami to write to the Governor Banwarilal Purohit immediately and ask him to order a probe into the complaint of accumulation of assets disproportionate to income against him. "Fix a date for the debate. You decide the venue. I will come there alone. You may bring all your ministers, if possible, even deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam for your support. Let us debate how your emptied the state exchequer during the 10-year AIADMK regime, especially the last four years, and I will rip you off," Stalin said.
