Likening the corruption and nepotism charge of “Delhi Chanakya” against the opposition parties and that too in the company of “twins who have been emptying the state exchequer daily for four years by using family members as benomis” to a comedy scene of Vadivelu, Stalin said that the people were very clear, no matter what tricks they try. People of Tamil Nadu would deal a blow bigger than 2019 to the forces destroying the nation in the 2021 polls, he said.
Sparing a thought for the AIADMK, Stalin recalled the earlier statement of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami that “DMK was not stepping out” and said the government led by the same Chief Minister was arresting DMK men for campaigning after taking adequate precautions.
“Has the government got frightened by one Udhayanidhi? Every DMK family has Udhayanidhi like brethren. What would you do if they gathered in hundreds, thousands and lakhs?” the DMK president wondered, adding Central Chennai MP Dayanidhi Maran, ex-MP Cumbum Selvendran, minorities wing secretary Dr Masthan, farmers wing secretary Karur Chinnasamy and women’s wing deputy secretary Bhavani Rajendran to the list of prominent party functionaries who would undertake the 75-day poll campaign for the 2021 Assembly polls.
Baalu petitions DGP again
Meanwhile, DMK Parliamentary party leader TR Baalu on Sunday petitioned the state DGP again seeking to direct his officers to refrain from arresting or impeding DMK members for carrying out lawful election campaign adhering to COVID-19 regulations.
Reiterating that the police should forthwith stop discriminatory practice of preventing Udhayanidhi from undertaking political campaign, Baalu again threatened to initiate appropriate legal proceedings if the police fail to act on his complaint.
