Remarking that TN has emerged as the second worst virus-affected state in the country because of the administrative lapses of the state government, which had left people in the lurch, Stalin said the AIADMK regime has reached a state of coma after failing to put preventive measures, lockdown, medicines and medical equipment to good use.
“There can’t be a worse mockery of law than the government calling it a lockdown after reopening everything except, schools/colleges, temples and public transport. People should be cautious in taking self-protection measures instead of relying on the state government regime which has failed on all fronts,” Stalin said, in a statement.
Claiming that the number of people affected by coronavirus and the fatality rate has increased by 163% and 228%, respectively, the DMK president said the state has reached a dangerous situation where over 100 people are dying daily and 1,224 persons have died in the last 10 days alone.
Listing out the administrative failures of the EPS regime, including opening of TASMAC shops, reduction in solatium to frontline workers to 25 lakh, cover up of 444 COVID deaths and failure in supplying PPEs to healthcare professional, he said the state people were confined to their houses despite relaxation in lockdown restrictions owing to the continuance of e-passes.
Stalin said the recent statements of the CM suggest that from ignoring the warnings raised by DMK among opposition parties, the CM has now admitted to normal life being “worst affected” in the state after the number of Covid patients crossed 3 lakh.
