Leader of Opposition MK Stalin has urged the state government to book murder case and arrest cops responsible for the custodial death of Saathankulam father-son duo in Kovilpatti sub jail.
In a series of tweets posted on his official Twitter handle, Stalin cautioned that his party DMK would move the court seeking CBI inquiry if the state government does not conduct fair probe and initiate appropriate action in Jeyaraj-Bennix murder case.
Posting the tweet with the hashtag #JusticeforJeyarajAndBennix and #ArrestkillersofJeyarajAndBennix, Stalin also questioned chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami for attributing health reasons for the duo’s death prior to the autopsy report. “On what basis did the Chief Minister say that Bennix died due to respiratory distress and his father Jeyaraj due to illness even before the receipt of the autopsy reports?” Stalin wondered.
Meanwhile, DMK women’s wing secretary and Thoothukudi MP K Kanimozhi visited the house of one Ganesamurthy who committed suicide allegedly after Yettayapuram police assaulted him. In a message condoling the demise of Ganeshamurthy, Kanimozhi referred to the Saathankulam double death and said that it has become a regular to see police commit excess against weak people, resulting in deaths.
