DMK president MK Stalin on Thursday lauded Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy for passing an Assembly resolution against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Population Register (NPR) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).
“In passing a historically significant resolution, Chief Minister Narayanasamy has secured a revolutionary space in Puducherry history,” Stalin remarked. “I wholeheartedly appreciate the fearlessness of Narayanasamy, who, like our leader Karunanidhi, has done it, unmindful of even losing power,” he added, in a statement issued on Thursday.
The principal opposition party has been urging the ruling AIADMK to adopt a resolution in the state Assembly against the CAA, emulating the Left ruled Kerala Assembly which was the first to officially declare in the House that it would not implement NPR. The 100-MLA strong DMK legislature party had even petitioned the Assembly secretariat in this regard a few days ago.
