A total of 34 students of the DKM Arts and Science College for Women participated in the drive to clean statuettes in the arms room of the historic Vellore fort.
The DKM College Secretary K Maninathan said that 20 undergraduate and 14 post graduate students participated in the day long work. The ASI sources revealed that the work would become a part of their regular project as it would benefit the ASI in the long run.
According to officials, plans were afoot to throw open the prison complex inside the historic Vellore fort that once housed freedom fighters by the end of March. Also, plans are in place to construct a park and pathway to connect the park in order to attract more visitors.
